Town rounded off their home season in style with a convincing 7-0 win over Bodedern Athletic on a wet and miserable evening at Halkyn Road.

Town welcomed Bodedern Athletic to Halkyn Road and the home side had the first real chance when a dipping half volley by Sam Jones was tipped over the bar by Carl Jones in the Bodedern goal. A few minutes later, Town were awarded a penalty when Chris Evans handled a Tom McElmeel header on the goal line to prevent it crossing the line and the referee had no hesitation but to point to the spot and send the defender off for deliberate handball. Sam Jones stepped up to take the kick but the keeper guessed right and saved the ball well low to his right to keep the scores at 0-0.

A few minutes later, a strong run by Sam Jones saw the defender bring him down and the referee again pointed to the spot, but after deliberating with his assistant, the foul was outside of the area, and Steve Thomas watched as his curling effort from the free kick went over the bar for a goal kick.

With 6 minutes remaining, Town took the lead when another strong run by Jones saw his cross come shot take a deflection off a Bodedern player and the ball nestled in the back of the net. A couple of minutes later, it was 2-0 as Mark Orme fired hard an low into the bottom corner after controlling the ball well on the edge of the box.

Town had a deserved 2 goal lead at the break and a minute into the second half, Steve Thomas made it 3-0 to Town when his effort found the bottom left hand corner. Just short of the hour mark, Graeme Williams had as hot saved before a minute or so later, Sam Jones once again burst through on goal and his low effort across goal narrowly missed the far post.

Five minutes later, Jones got his second of the evening. Phil Lloyd picked the ball up on the halfway line and his strong run down the line saw his beat the defender and his cross into the box was controlled well by Jones who then fired home to give the keeper no chance. Jones was in the thick of it a few minutes later again as his powerful shot was saved and put out for a corner and from the resulting corner, Dafydd Griffith's volley was saved well by the keeper. Phil Lloyd, who was having a good half, put pressure on the defender yet again and his lay off found Sam Jones but his shot was cleared at the far post to deny Jones getting his hat trick.

Bodedern then had an effort hit the cross bar as Gareth Allman's shot looped over Danny Stanton, then a few minutes later, Matty Harvey was only inches away as his shot from a Sam Jones lay off flew inches wide of the post. James Burgess then had a effort saved by Stanton then a minute later, substitute Graham Boylan, who had only been on the pitch for a few minutes poked the ball home following a goal mouth scramble following a corner.

Graeme Williams added a 6th on 85 minutes, firing home from just outside the box and the ball went into the back of the net with the keeper beaten at the near post, before Boylan added his second and Town's 7th with a minute remaining, sliding the ball home from another great cross by Phil Lloyd.

It was a convincing win for the Town and was a fitting way to end our home campaign for the season. With 4 games remaining for Town, the victory was the perfect pick me up following last week's defeat to Denbigh Town and eyes now turn to Saturday's trip to Glantraeth.
