The Wellmen returned to league action and after 2 defeats, looked to get back to winning ways against Nefyn United.

The game opened brightly and Town took the lead with a couple of minutes on the clock. A great move saw Dafydd Griffith pass the ball to Luke Tyson, who ran with the ball and passed to Steve Thomas who laid the ball off perfectly to Sam Jones and his first time shot flew in to the top corner from over 20 yards out. The perfect start for the Wellmen; A quarter of an hour later it was 2-0 as Jones added his second of the game.

Town added more pressure and Matty Harvey went close with a free header which went inches wide before Tony Roebuck passed to Luke Tyson, who saw his shot fly inches past the post of Ian Aikman’s goal. Phil Lloyd then should have had a penalty after a great run into the box saw him brought down, but linesman John Carter waived away Lloyd’s appeals but minutes later, Lloyd did get on the scoresheet as he ran into the box, rode the challenge’s of a couple of defenders before shooting home to make it 3-0. With a few minutes remaining of the half, Sam Jones, in search of his hat trick, saw his shot saved by Aikman.

The second half opened brightly for the Wellmen, and a few minutes into the half, Town increased their lead. Steve Thomas broke free down the left and cut inside into the box. He beat a couple of challenges before shooting but his shot was blocked and as the ball crossed through the box, it fell to Luke Tyson who tapped the ball into the net. A few minutes later it was 5 as Sam Jones grabbed his hat trick. He broke clear and ran into the box, the keeper came out but Sam just slotted the ball past him to the corner of the net. Town’s next chance fell to Matty Roberts who broke free into the box from the left, but his shot was brilliantly blocked by Aikman’s legs. Tony Roebuck then went close and his performance certainly deserved a goal as he was in total control in the centre of the park.

Sam Jones then added Town’s 6th and his 4th on the hour mark as his cheeky dink took a slight deflection off a defender but still ended up over the keeper, and just as everyone had finished cheering that goal, Phil Lloyd added another within a minute when he hit the ball home after a great cross in by Luke Tyson. Matty Roberts then had another effort saved by the keeper for corner, and from the resulting corner, Graham Boylan headed inches wide.

With 5 minutes on the clock, Sam Jones broke through again and shot the ball into the bottom corner after a 1 on 1 on the keeper to cap an excellent afternoon for the Striker. Tony Roebuck and Graham Boylan then had half efforts go wide before Paul Williams saw his shot curl wide of the far post. The score remained 8-0 to the Wellmen and it was an excellent performance ahead of the busy Easter Schedule.
