Another excellent win and once again, Nefyn are on the receiving end!

Holywell Town 10-0 Nefyn United

After the 10-0 victory at Nefyn last month, No one would have imagined that the score would have been the same in the reverse fixture this afternoon! But Town once again took the game to Nefyn and ran out worthy winners and keeps the pressure on Denbigh Town and Caernarfon Town above us in the league.

Town took the lead on 3 minutes through Mark Orme and could have doubled their lead a few minutes later, but Graham Boylan put his shot over the bar when through on the keeper. Nefyn then had a chance as Guto Roberts blazed over.

Both teams had chances after this but neither keepers were forced to make any difficult saves. Paul Williams came closest to doubling Town’s lead but his shot was saved by Gethin Roberts in goal for Nefyn. A couple of minutes later, Town did find the back of the net through Sam Jones, who broke clear of the defenders and unleashed an unstoppable shot across goal which ended in the far corner. Town’s supporters had barely sat back down before Ashley Durham made it 3-0 on the stroke of half time.

Town didn’t take the foot off the gas in the second half and went looking for more goals to help with the goal difference, and the half was barely a minute old when Paul Williams had a header loop over the keeper but unfortunately hit the crossbar and came back out but Graham Boylan was stood close by to force the ball home. Moments later, a Matty Roberts corner was well met by Ashley Durham, but his header went inches past the post.

Town added a fifth on 57 minutes through Sam Jones, who received a ball across the face of goal from Graham Boylanand all he had to do was tap the ball home. Nefyn thought that he was offside and complained and Nefyn’s Chris Griffith complained a bit too much to the Assistant who flagged the referee who had no hesitation but to send him off. Steve Thomas had a shot go wide before Williams was unlucky as his shot was cleared off the line by the Nefyn Defender. A minute later however, Town added to their lead through Boylan again.

Boylan completed his hat trick on 80 minutes, who only had to touch the ball over the line after Tom Carney had sent over a great cross and the Nefyn keeper left it and Boylan was on hand to tap the ball home for his second hat trick in a week! Barry Calder then opened his Holywell Town goal account, scoring a great goal from over 20 yards out to the keepers right and he had no chance in saving it. Graeme Williams got Town’s 9th a few minutes later from a Steve Thomas cross before Thomas completed the rout with the final kick of the game as he scored from the penalty spot, after he was brought down running at the defenders.

A great win and the result means we now have the better goal difference in the Welsh Alliance League and that may come into play at the end of the season, and may prove to be so important!
