Late goal gives visitors the points

The match got underway and Town had the better of the opening exchanges. First chance of the afternoon fell to Town, a good ball through by Sam Jones sees Mark Winslade out run his marker and in on goal, his shot was gladly gathered by Paul Pritchard on the second attempt after the ball bobbled infront of him.
Porthmadog had the next chance, a good run by Iwan Lewis down the right saw him cross the ball but Goalkeeper Tyler French was on hand to punch the ball clear with Julian Williams threatening. Shortly afterwards, Aaron Pomeyie saw Paul Pritchard off his line and his attempted chip fell inches over the cross bar. Town were then piling on the pressure looking for the breakthrough, a good move saw Sam Jones beat a couple of tackles and his cross to Winslade saw the Wellmen striker shoot inches wide.
Despite Town’s dominance during the half, Porthmadog also had chances, a good move down the right found Shaun Cavanagh who crossed the ball but Julian Williams’ header failed to hit the target. The deadline was finally broken on the half hour mark. Mark Winslade dispossessed the ball off the Porthmadog defender on the edge of the box, he burst forward and his cross was met by Damon Ketley who fires the ball home past Pritchard to give the Wellmen a deserved lead.
The latter part of the half saw Porthmadog looking for the equaliser but Town dealt well with the pressure and French wasn’t really tested before the referee blew for half time with the Wellmen in the lead.
The Second half begun and Porthmadog were the first out of the stalls, with Shaun Cavanagh through on goal but his shot was easily saved by Tyler French. A few minutes later, town were thankful for Winslade who cleared Julian Williams’ header at the far post off the line before the ball was cleared. Porthamdog sub Sion Edwards was only inches away from steering the ball past French from a dangerous Porthmadog cross, before he saw another shot hit the side netting. The pressure on the goal was finally rewarded with 65 minutes on the clock and it was Edwards who got his name on the score sheet as his effort came down off the cross bar and into the net.
Town were still in the game and won a free kick after Damien Kettley had been fouled, the ball was whipped into the box and cleared for corner, from the resulting corner, the ball was partially cleared and fell to Jason Renshaw, who passed it back out to Sam Jones who crossed it into the box and Danny Dobbins fails narrowly to tap ball home.
Another good run by Pomeyie saw him cross the ball into the danger area but was cleared, but only as far as Renshaw who shot wide before the visitors won a free kick but Tyler French saved Shaun Cavanagh’s effort.
Dobbins thought he had grabbed Town’s second goal with a looping header which had beaten Pritchard but unfortunately for Town, fell over the cross bar and with the game looking to be heading for a draw, disaster struck for the Wellmen as Port grabbed a late winner. The 90 minutes had been played, and the ball was crossed into the penalty area from the left and Sion Parry was able to get a touch to steer it past French to claim the 3 points.
Definitely a game of two halves and it was heartache for Town on the final whistle, the late goal seeing the visitors win the match.

Manager John Haseldin added after the match, "It was tough to take today, much better side first half but faded second half against a strong Porthmadog side. We are disappointed with the goals we conceded, but credit to Craig Papirnyk, his substitutes had a big impact on the game. We are all hurting but determined to keep fighting! Friday night can't come quick enough now!
