Despite another improved performance, the Wellmen return

The game was only a few minutes old when the Seasiders took the lead through Oliver Buckley, who's effort beat Mike Platt in the Wellmen goal. Not the start the Wellmen wanted, and given the early goal, many heads would have dropped but the Wellmen battled back and not let the early set back get to them. Town were playing good football and went close with a quarter of an hour on the clock as Steve Lewis' free kick flew inches wide of Ryan Woods' post.

A few minutes later, another good ball into the box see's the the ball fall for Matty Hughes, but his volley flew over the bar. The Wellmen had most of the possession and were doing everything possible to get the equaliser, but the home side still possessed a threat, and an attack forward by Prestatyn saw them win a free kick on the edge of the box but Daniel Davies' effort flew over the bar.

With a few minutes before the break, the Home side were playing good football and very nearly increased their lead, Ian Griffiths' effort was going in but Dafydd Griffith slid and made an important block which saw the ball go out for a corner which came to nothing, and the referee blew for half time a couple of minutes later.

The sides came out for the second half and Town knew they were still in the game. The first chance of the half fell to the home side, as they broke clear and the ball fell to Daniel Davies on the right, he ran goalwards and his effort had Platt beaten but fortunately for Town, it hit the crossbar and flew back into play before being cleared. Morgan Jones, who was making his debut as a second half sub then nearly got the Wellmen level but his shot was saved by Woods. A few minutes later, Mike Platt pulled off a great save from Ian Griffiths who had broken clear and from the resulting corner, Platt again kept the Wellmen in it by punching the ball clear with Oliver Buckley threatening.

Town pressed for the equaliser, with Aaron Pomeyie doing well down the left, and Morgan Jones beign an added threat, but the chances wern't going Town's way, and the Prestatyn defence were able to deal with the efforts put in front of them. With Town pressing for an qualiser, this left gaps at the back and a Prestatyn Town breakway saw Macauley Taylor burst forward, but his effort was again saved brilliantly by Mike Platt to keep the score at 1-0.

Town very nearly got a deserved equaliser with one of the last kicks of the game, a good move saw the ball fall to Sam Jones on the edge of the area, but his shot whizzed past the post and out for a goal kick.

The Referee soon blew for full time, and Oliver Buckley's early goal was the difference between the two sides, and Town will feel disappointed to return with nothing after putting in a good performance which deserved a lot more than than the 1-0 defeat. The Wellmen go again next weekend with the trip to Llanrhaeadr YM.

Thanks once again the the large number of supporters who braved the cold weather and made teh trip to Prestatyn Town to cheer on the Wellmen, it's much appreciated by all connected to the club.
