Wellmen come back from 2 goals down to share the spoils against Guilsfield.

The match got underway and Town soon settled and started to attack Guilsfield’s goal. Joshua Sheridan and new signing Aaron Pomeyie working well down the right and the first attack fell to Town as Josh Maldon’s shot was inches wide of Mike Jones’ left hand post. Steve Lewis then an effort go wide before Town had their best chance of the afternoon, a great through ball by Lewis to Sam Jones, who runs towards goal but he dragged his shot wide. Jones then had a free kick charged down by the wall and Lewis firing wide of the goal.
With minutes remaining of the half, the visitors took the lead, Town conceded a free kick and from the free kick, the ball came into the box was parried by keeper Antoni Sarnowski but Guilsfield’s Sam Whitfield reacted and headed the ball into the net to give Guilsfield a half time lead.
Minutes into the half, the ball comes to keeper Sarnowski but his clearance hits Steve Blenkinsopp who was running goalward and the ball ricochets into the empty net. It was a desperately unlucky way for the Wellmen to concede a goal. Town now had a mountain to climb, and a few minutes later, Town won a penalty as Steve Lewis was brought down in the penalty box and referee David Wright pointed to the spot. Steve Lewis stepped up and fired the ball past Mike Jones to reduce the deficit.
The goal lifted the Wellmen and Lewis very nearly drew the sides level minutes later, a great cross in from the left saw Lewis rise to meet the ball but his header smashed against the crossbar and was cleared by the Guilsfield defence. The Wellmen brought on Shaun Tuck to replace Arron Pomeyie and within minutes, Tuck had drawn the side’s level. A great ball from the back found Tuck on the left and he rounded the advancing keeper and fired the ball into the empty net.
Town looked to grab another goal, and had a couple of chances but were unable to find the net. Guilsfield then had a good chance to regain the lead, a good move by Guilsfield saw the ball fall to Andy Ford but he blazes the ball over from a good position. With minutes remaining, the visitors win a free kick and sub Jack Harris’ kick hits the wall and comes off a Guilsfield player and out for a goal kick.
Deep into injury time, Tuck pics up the ball and runs down the right, he beats his man and into the box and his shot got blocked, before Tuck regained possession and his second attempt went out for a goal kick.
The referee blew for full time and the Wellmen had put in a great spirited performance to come back from two goals down for a share of the spoils.
