Holywell Town 2-3 Penrhyncoch

After both teams lost on the opening weekend, the Wellmen were looking to overcome a Penrhyncoch side which have always posed the Wellmen problems, and were hoping to grind out a victory in front of their home supporters. The game started well for the Wellmen but it was the visitors who took the lead in the 21st minute through Craig Williams. A couple of minutes later, Town were back on level terms through a Jon Felingo own goal, after he put past his own keeper. Town looked to build on this but Felingo made amends for his error a couple of minutes earlier when he put the visitors back in the lead.

Matty Harvey drew the sides level on 34 minutes and the score remained 2-2 at the half time interval.

The second half was end to end like the first half and both sides looked to grab a winner. Unfortunately for Town, that winner came in the final 10 minutes and went the way of Penrhyncoch, as Liam Doherty fired the ball home past Andy Metcalf.
Despite the result, it was a much better performance by the Wellmen and all eyes now turn to Wednesday’s big local derby against Flint Town United.
