The Wellmen end their home campaign in the Huws Gray Alliance with a victory over Llanfair United.

With both teams looking for points for different reasons, the game was evenly matched and Mark Winslade had the first chance but his shot went wide. The next chance fell to Matty Harvey, who got up well to head the ball goalwards from a Steve Thomas corner.

The visitors had a couple of half chances but failed to test goalkeeper Andy Hughes, who also had claims for a penalty turned away by the referee. With 25 minutes on the clock, Town had another good chance to break the deadlock. A good move started by Jack Pennington saw him pass the ball to Jamie McDaid on the left, he cut inside but his shot was blocked and fell to Brady McGilloway on the right of the penalty area. McGilloway's fierce effort flew past Llanfair keeper Chris Brown's right hand post and the ball went out for a goal kick.

Matty Hurdman had a shot go wide then on 36 minutes, The Wellmen took the lead through Steve Thomas, who slotted home the throughball past Brown and into the net.

The second half began with the Wellmen a goal to the good, and with barely a minute played, Town had increased their lead through the inform Jamie McDaid. The goal was no more than Town deserved and McDaid claimed his 8th goal in 11 apperances for the Wellmen. 10 minutes into the half, Llanfair had the ball in the net and thought they had pulled a goal back, but the linesmans' flag was raised as striker James Davies was in an offside position.

Town then had a good move, started off by Brady McGilloway's run, cutting in an out past the defender before a good lay off for Matty Hurdman but his shot went over Brown's cross bar. Mathew Kendrick then rescued Town with a good clearance after a good Llanfair move, but a minute or so later, the visitors had pulled one back through Ryan Davies, who headed home James Davies' corner. The goal lifted Llanfair and James Davies had a great ball thread through to him but his shot was saved by Hughes. Still Llanfair looked for the equaliser and they went close as Hughes was forced to palm the ball away for a corner, and from the corner, Llanfair had an effort cleared off the line by Jack Pennington.

The Wellmen weatherd the Llanfair storm and kept their lead, and Pennington who again had a great game for the Wellmen lay the ball off to McDaid, who's initial shot was blocked by the keeper, who then had to show quick reflexes to punch the ball out for a corner with McGilloway bearing down on the loose ball. McDaid then had a shot blocked by the keeper before in the dying minutes, Llanfair's Ben Jones had a shot saved by Andy Hughes.

A good performance by the Wellmen saw them deservedly pick up the 3 points, and the lads will be full of confidence going into this week's matches.
