Wellmen victorious in 7 goal thriller.

The game started well with the first chance falling to Graeme Williams, but his shot went wide of Dylan Jones' goal and the Wellmen found themselves a goal to the good as early as the 9th minute. A good ball through for Shaun Tuck found him turn the defender inside out, before cutting inside and firing low into the bottom corner.

Ruthin's Garmon Hafael burst through, and was rushing towards goal but he overhit the ball slightly running forward, and Steve Thomas was able to rush over to tackle Hafael and the ball went out to safety before he could shoot goalwards. On 19 minutes, Paul D Williams was fouled and Matty Hurdman's free kick from 35 yards flew over the bar. Hafael again was causing problems for the Wellmen's defence and another good run saw him cross the ball into the centre but was just a little too hard for the onrushing Jordan McCarter.

The Wellmen increased their lead on 25 minutes, again through Shaun Tuck who grabbed his second of the game, turning and shooting past Jones to give Town a two goal cushion. Steve Thomas then had a good run and cut inside the defender but his shot was blocked, and a good Jamie McDaid run goalwards saw him tackled well for a corner, which unfortunately came to nothing.

The second half got underway, with Town carrying a two goal cushion, and Ruthin started the half well, and a good run by Jordan McCarter saw Matty Harvey foul him just inside the box, and Harvey picked up a yellow card for the challenge. Ilan Hughes stood up to take the penalty and his shot beat Turner to reduce the arrears. The goal lifted Ruthin, and a good cross by McCarter saw Hafael strike the ball inches wide. Ruthin Town were reduced to 10 men on 70 minutes as Tom Sharples picked up his second yellow of the game, and the sides were once again even a few minutes later as Matty Harvey was sent off for a challenge on the edge of the area. McCarter picked himself up to take the free kick, and his kick flew into the top corner with Turner beaten.

A few minutes later, Town regained the lead. Graeme Williams was fouled inside the box, and McDaid stepped up to take the spot kick and fired home to score his second penalty in a week to put Town ahead once again. Disaster struck a few minutes later as the visitors once again drew level, McCarter firing home a fierce shot which gave Turner no chance. Phil Lloyd then had a shot saved by the keeper and with the game looking like it was heading for a draw, Wellmen's Paul Williams had other ideas! A good ball over into the box found Paul Williams on the edge of the box, he controlled well and his half volley flew into the net with the keeper well beaten to give Town the lead again with minutes remaining on the clock.

The referee blew a few minutes later and Town picked up all three points in a highly entertaining game.
