The Wellmen make it 3 from 3 with a great win at Y Morfa.

It was Holywell Town who had the first chance, Ross Ankers went on a run and was brought down on the edge of the box. Steve Thomas took the free kick and his kick was saved by Conwy Borough keeper Joshua Cook. The home side had the next chance, when striker Alex Titchiner had a shot on goal, but the shot took a slight defelction on the way through which took the sting out of it and John Rushton was able to save the ball easily. A few minutes later, Town had taken the lead.

Steve Thomas went on a great run down the left and beat his defender, he cut inside on the byline and his low cross found Shaun Tuck unmarked in the box and he tapped the ball home, much to the delight of the Wellmen supporters gathered behind the goal. It was a great start by the Wellmen and then Conwy had a couple of chances to equalise, when Ben Glover should have done better but his shot flew wide, and Titchiner shot over but he was in an offside position so the goal wouldn't have counted.

Shortly afterwards, the home side equalised through Titchiner, who's low shot found the net to make the scores 1 apiece. The goal gave Conwy confidence, and in the next attack, they went close as Glover's great cross was only inches too quick for the onrushing Mark Buchan at the near post as a slight touch would have steered the ball into the net. As the half drew to a close, Matty Harvey had a shot fly over the bar and as the referee blew for the interval, the game was evenly balanced and the score a fair reflection of the half so far.

The Wellmen were forced into change at the break with Goalscorer Shaun Tuck unable to continue after picking up a knock late in the half, and Phil Lloyd was brought on to replace him. The second half was different to the first, with both teams defending really well and not many chances were created by neither team. Ross Ankers run beating a couple of defenders but his cross was cleared with Lloyd lurking at the far post, then Matty Harvey went close firing inches wide.

hSHortly afterwards, sub Ryan Davidson had an overhead kick saved well by Cook and from the resulting corner, Jon Jones header fell inches wide of the post. Town's next attack saw Matty Harvey fouled in the box and the referee blew and pointed to the spot. Jamie McDaid stood up to take the kick and gave the keeper no chance, scoring to give Town the lead. With a minute left on the clock, Town went on the attack, with Paul Williams passing the ball out to McDaid on the right, he cut inside, beat a couple of defenders then his low shot flew into the bottom corner to make the game safe for the Wellmen.

The final whistle went and Town walked off the pitch to a standing ovation by their large number of supporters who had made the journey down the coast, and Town will be looking to continue this fine run against bottom side Buckley Town next Saturday at Halkyn Road. Great win lads and much deserved.
