The Wellmen return to winning ways after excellent 4-0 victory at Denbigh Town.

With supporters still making their way through the turnstiles, the Wellmen broke the deadlock and took the lead with a couple of moinutes on the clock. Denbigh Town won a free kick and as the ball was hit upfield towards their players, The Wellmen cleared the ball without the home side having a chance on goal, and as Holywell Town broke upfield with the Denbigh defence tracking back, the ball fell to Paul Williams' feet and he calmly fired the ball home past Jonathon Hill-Dunt in the Denbigh goal. A great start for the Wellmen!.

Denbigh looked to get back into the game and Jake Eyre had an effort saved by John Rushton, before Jamie McDaid nearly opened his account for the Wellmen as he headed the ball goalwards from a Steve Thomas free kick, but the ball was cleared on the line by Denbigh's Tony Davies. Shortly afterwards, Steve Thomas run into the box saw him brought down by Davies but the referee waved away the appeals for a spot kick, much to the relief of the Denbigh captain. A few minues later, another ball into the box saw Brady McGilloway challenge for the ball, but he was brought down by Hill-Dunt but again, the referee did not give a penalty.

A few minutes later, Town increased their lead. A great move down the left saw Jamie McDaid beat his marker on the edge of the box before firing past Hill-Dunt then celebrated his first goal for the club with the Town supporters who were stood behind that goal. More chances fell to the Wellmen but no efforts found the back of the net then in the 35th minute, Town added a third goal to their tally. McDaid, who was having a great half burst through and rounded the advancing keeper, before looking up and from the byline, crossed the ball to Brady McGilloway to slot the ball home to give Town a 3 goal lead. Shortly afterwards, the Wellmen conceded a penalty as Paul D Williams fouled Keiran Gaul, but Jon Rushton produced a great stop to save Jake Eyre's penalty kick, and that missed ensured the Wellmen remained 3-0 up at the break.

The Second Half saw the Wellmen look to increase their lead, and were playing great football, Steve Thomas going close but his effort was inches over Hill-Dunt's crossbar. Denbigh looked to get back into the game and Eyre fired a shot goalwards but was easily dealt with by Rushton, then defender Tony Davies had a shot fly over the bar. Denbigh were putting on the pressure and a quick break saw a good cross into the danger area by Eyre but Ross Ankers was on hand to clear the ball to safety.

The Wellmen grabbed a 4th goal on the hour mark through Matty Hurdman. Phil Lloyd picked up the ball on the edge of the box, and his shot come cross seemed to be going out for a goal kick, but McDaid picked the ball up, and from the byline, lay the ball off to the oncoming Hurdman to fire the ball home to give Hill-Dunt no chance. Town were still looking to increase their lead, and a great move involving Paul D Williams and McDaid saw the ball fall to McGilloway, but his effort flew inches wide.

The final few chances fell to the home side, with Andrew Swarbrick heading the ball over, and Nathan Williams saw his effort saved well by Rushton before the referee blew for full time.

As the Wellmen players walked off the pitch, they were greeted to a standing ovation for the best team performance in a couple of months, and the supporters showed their appreciation to the lads for their deserved victory.
