A few minutes later, Sam Jones was through on goal but his shot was cleared for a corner. From the resulting corner, the goal keeper rose to gather but it slipped through his hands and out for another corner. With just over ten minutes played, Phil Lloyd ran through on goal and his pull back found Steve Thomas but his shot hit Tom McElmeel which took the sting out of the shot and it was cleared for another corner.
Barmouth cleared the corner and pressed forward, and George Southerns ran down the right before crossing into Town’s penalty box, but Matty Harvey was on hand to clear the ball upfield, the ball fell over the midfield and to the feet of Phil Lloyd. He ran with the ball and when challenged by Steve Bratt, he tricked the defender by cutting inside then a cheeky back heel which wrong footed the defender before Lloyd hit the ball past French to give Town the lead; A great goal by Lloyd which was worthy of the applause which ringed around Halkyn Road. Lloyd was involved in the next attack as he broke through towards goal but was brought down. From the resulting free kick, Sam Jones saw his effort gathered well by French.

With 25 minutes played, a ball over the top for Phil Lloyd to chase was met by the keeper, but his poor clearance saw Tom McElmeel get there before the defender and controlled well and ran towards goal before unleashing a powerful shot but French got down well to his right to save with one hand. Another great cross by Steve Thomas saw Sam Jones connect but his effort was blocked before another cross by Thomas saw Tony Roebuck go inches wide with his shot. Paul Williams then had a shot saved well by French, but didn’t have to long to wait to get on the scoresheet as Williams added Town’s second on 39 minutes. Steve Thomas thread the ball through for Williams to chase, and as the keeper came out, Williams controlled well before slotting the ball past French from a tight angle and the ball crept over the line to give Town a 2 goal cushion.

The second half kicked off and Phil Lloyd had a shot saved well by French before Steve Thomas had a shot go well over the bar. Town increased their lead on the hour mark as a great ball through by Phil Lloyd to Paul Williams saw him run in on goal, and as the advancing keeper came out, Williams chipped the ball over the keeper into an empty net to give the Wellmen a 3 goal cushion with half hour to play. A few minutes later a Sam Jones cross saw Lloyd head across goal before being cleared but Town killed the game off a few minutes later as Paul Williams ran forward and lay the ball off to Sam Jones who made no mistake from outside of the area to make it 4-0 to the Wellmen.

A few minutes later, Phil Lloyd was through on goal, but French produced a great one handed save to deny Lloyd. A few minutes later however, Lloyd got his own back by making it 5-0, striking the ball home after a great cross by John Leonard.
