Flint Town United 3-2 Holywell Town (AET)

The Wellmen had a dream start after 2 minutes when Tony Roebuck's corner was headed back across goal and Matty Kendrick was on hand to head the ball home past the dive of Flint Town United keeper Andy Brown.
Flint Town then fought back, with Richie Foulkes firing wide of Andy Metcalfs goal, before Foulkes again had an effort blocked by the Wellmen defence. Sam Jones then done well to intercept a ball across Flint's back four and his effort from distance was saved by keeper Brown. As the clock ticked towards the half hour mark, the hosts equalised through Luke Blondell, when a dangerous cross into the box found Blondell who headed home past Metcalf's full stretch dive across goal.

With the score level at the break, both sides came out for the second half looking for the decisive 2nd goal. The Wellmen then lost captain Paul Williams who was forced off with an ankle injury with around 10 minutes of the half played. Alli Sherriff then shot wide before a good move involving Jack Pennington and Tony Roebuck saw a thru ball for Damien Ketley to chase but the keeper got to the ball just before Ketley managed to get the final touch, then a Flint Town United corner saw Sherriff flick the ball forward towards the far post, but thankfully for the Wellmen, Roebuck was on hand to head the ball clear before the loose ball was cleared by Matty Harvey to safety.

Another good move forward by Town saw Sam Jones release Ketley, and his powerful run forward into the box saw him fire the ball goalwards but Flint Town's Sam Hart sliding challenge saw him deflect the ball out for a throw in. The hosts then lost defender Tom Kemp for a second yellow card after an off the ball incident with Roebuck, then in the dying minutes of the ninety, Flint's Brandon Burrows fired over when in a good position on the edge of the box. The sides were level after 90 minutes and the game was forced into extra time.

Town started the first period of extra time well, with Ketley's low cross forcing a save out of Brown, before Ketley again had a shot on goal blocked by the Flint defence. The hosts then took the lead in the 98th minute, as sub Kyle Smith heads the ball into the top corner of the net from a long throw from the left hand side. The goal was harsh on the Wellmen but we kept looking for the equaliser, and it came a minute into the second period of extra time, again through Matty Kendrick who slotted the ball home from a goal mouth scramble in the Flint Town United penalty box.

Town then looked for the winner and a good move down the right saw Lee Davey cross teh ball into the box, and the ball came out to Kendrick who lined up the shot and his half volley flew over the bar. WIth the game entering the 118th minute, and heading to penalties to decide the tie, Flint Town broke forward down the right, and youngster Jake Hampson cut inside from the right saw him beat a couple of challenges, before slotting the ball across to Burrows who fired the ball past Metcalf to put Flint Town United ahead late in the game.

Town looked for a last gasp equaliser but it wasn't to be and it was the late winner which saw the hosts name in the hat for the 2nd round draw.

It was a great derby match between the sides and credit to the lads for putting in a great shift, only to face extra time heartache through the hosts late winner.
