The Wellmen face close rivals Flint Town United tomorrow at Halkyn Road in the first round of the Huws Gray Alliance League Cup.
The Wellmen will be looking to continue their winning run going but know that the form book goes out of the window in local derby’s and will have to work hard to get the victory to see them through to the second round of the competition. Flint Town United are no strangers to success in the League Cup and were losing finalist last season to Caernarfon Town, so they will be looking for a good cup run again this year in the competition.

Manager John Haseldin will be without Brady McGilloway who is serving the 2nd match of his 3 match ban following his sending off against Corwen a fortnight ago. Town welcome back Steve Lewis who has been on holiday but Jack Pennington and Matty Kendrick both face late fitness tests to see if they will make it into the squad.

Following Andy Holden’s resignation last week, our visitors will be under the management of Aden Shannon and he will be looking to lift his side after a string of disappointing defeats of late. He has been buoyed by the news that international clearance has come through for Chris Budrys and Wayne Riley and have both been added to the squad.

The sides have already met this season at Halkyn Road, and the game finished 3-3 with the visitors scoring in the final 5 minutes to share the points after Jamie McDaid, Danny Desormeaux and Steve Lewis had scored for the Wellmen.

Its winner takes all tomorrow and if the match is level after 90 minutes, extra time will be played then the match will be decided by penalties if the scores are still level after 120 minutes. The kick off on Saturday is 2.30pm and Holywell Town are hoping for a good crowd on Saturday to cheer the lads on. See you there……
