Holywell Town made the long journey to Pwllheli for the first round game in their defense of the Cookson Cup, which the Wellmen won last season.
Town had a great start when Paul Williams was on hand to convert a great pass by Tony Roebuck. Town doubled their lead a short while later when Steve Thomas linked well with Graeme Williams and Thomas was able to lob the ball over the advancing Pwllheli keeper to double Town's lead.
A couple of minutes into the second half, Town got their third of the afternoon as Tom McElmeel's great free kick found the top corner of the net. Pwllheli pulled one back through Mark Bridge with 20 minutes to go, but any chance of a comeback was soon eliminated as Graeme Williams found himself through on goal and coolly slotted past the Pwllheli keeper to seal the win.
It was a great win for the Wellmen against a spirited Pwllheli side and the draw for the next round will take place shortly and will be posted on the Website once known.
