The Wellmen fire 8 past Queens Park for convincing victory in their first game for over 3 weeks.

Im made up to score my first hat trick for Holywell Town - Striker Mark Winslade

Sam Jones opened the scoring after quarter of an hour, bursting through before firing past the Josh Griffiths before Mark Winslade doubled the lead a couple of minutes later with a great goal, picking up the loose ball and firing into the top corner. The score remained 2-0 until a minute before the break, as Winslade got his 2nd of the match, firing a fierce shot from a tight angle past Griffiths to give the Wellmen a 3 goal advantage at the interval.

Steve Lewis and Sam Jones both had chances to increase Town's lead but failed to hit the target, and it wasn't until the hour mark that Town got their 4th goal of the afternoon when Jon Jones headed home at the far post. Barely a minute had passed when Sam Jones grabbed his second of the game before Steve Lewis got on the scoresheet to make it 6 without reply to the Wellmen.

On 75 minutes, Lewis again got on the scoresheet to make it 7-0, bursting through and chipping the ball over the advancing keeper and Winslade completed his hat trick with a few minutes remaining to make the score 8-0 to the Wellmen.

Manager John Haseldin added after the game, "I'm pleased with the big win and the 3 points, It's not easy playing after missing the best part of a month so to get a win like that, 8 goals and a clean sheet was a great result for us today".

Hat trick hero Mark Winslade said after the game he was "made up scoring my first hat trick for Holywell Town," and is pictured receiving the match ball after the game from Iwan Waters.

Today's win was Town's best victory in the Huws Gray Alliance league since they returned to the league a couple of season's or so ago, and the win see's the Wellmen up the third behind leaders Caernarfon Town and 2nd place Airbus. There's no game for the Wellmen next Saturday but return on 10th March when Guilsfield are our visitors to Halkyn Road.

The Reserves travelled to leaders Brickfield Rangers Reserves, and the home side ended up 4-1 winners with Danny Clewley getting our goal. It was a great performance by the lads and the scoreline somewhat flattered the League Leaders. Manager Eddie Barry added, "It was an excellent display by the lads against the experienced League Leaders who's goalkeeper was their man of the match. Brickfield admitted we were the better side and were flattered by the scoreline. We had one player over the age of 22 and were missing a few players but it was great attitude by the lads and deserved more.
