The Huws Gray Alliance League announced on Thursday that Rhayader Town have resigned from the league for the forthcoming season.

The Mid Wales side released a statement and said, "This is a decision we have not taken lightly and we have explored every avenue to try and fulfil our commitments to the league.

"For several seasons, commitments in this league have become a burden and this year it has come to a head and the realisation that players do not want to travel what can be 324 mile round trips to play a game of football.

"We apologise to all clubs that our decision has affected and accept any punishment that the league and FAW sanction. Whatever happens we will still be playing football next season."

Clubs in the HGA have not heard anything regarding the League structure for next season following Rhayader Town's decision, and we assume that the League will operate with 15 teams.

The Wellmen were due to play Rhayader Town at Halkyn Road on Saturday 28th October, with the Wellmen travelling down to Mid Wales on Saturday 3rd March 2018.
