Shaun Tuck (pictured with John Haseldin and Chris Boulton) returns on Saturday after a 4 match ban.

I will run through brick walls for this club every single time I wear that badge upon my chest
- Shaun Tuck

As you may remember, Shaun was sent off at Prestatyn Town in our first game of 2017 and with him back in contention on Saturday, we contacted Shaun for an interview and Shaun was happy to answer a few questions upon his return to help Holywell Town finish as high as possible in the League

Welcome to the Club, how’s it going and have you settled in?
Alright Steve pal, I've settled into the club great, found it really easy to be fair, with the lads we've got here it, it has helped and made it so much easier as they are all great lads and I couldn't of introduced myself any better with a hat trick on my debut away to Buckley Town, followed by a double the following week in a 2-0 win on my home debut. It couldn't have started any better.

When and how did you hear JH was interested in signing you, and was it an easy decision to sign for Holywell?
I initially first spoke to the gaffer maybe 6 months before, it may of been a little longer and we spoke football And if I was interested in signing and at first I was. I took time away in the summer and ended up signing for AFC Liverpool but had a bit of a groin problem that wouldn't go away and it affected me every time I trained which in turn made me ask to be released as I had become frustrated with it and had lost my love for football because of it and it felt it was getting worse before it was getting better. I took a couple of months out and spent my Saturday’s taking my son out to the park and was becoming used to the no stress but I knew inside I wanted to play football while making out I didn't want to play again. Football is my life and without it am lost. Once I had spoken to the gaffer again, I knew he was the man I wanted to play for. He's everything you want in a manager. He's a winner. He dislikes losing massively and he would do anything & everything for anyone on his team and that's massive for me. The type of player I am, I need a manager like that. Bit of a marriage made in heaven but don't tell this to his missus Keeley, I don't want her getting worried or anything. It is just a football relationship and nothing else.

What’s the standard like compared to playing for AFC Liverpool etc?
I can't really comment on the standard as I had only played one 90 pre-season minutes for AFC Liverpool so never really got a taste of it. Although the quality we had on show at our club I was more than impressed with but being a massive Evertonian and hating all things Liverpool football club, I should of heed the warning signs once I saw their team name.... But hey we all make mistakes and I am no different. But let's change the subject because I've made a few mistake in this life and some have been highlighted more than others. Next question.....

Match days - what’s Shaun Tuck like on a Saturday morning? Any rituals that you do before every game?
Match days.... I'm like a kid at Christmas. Believe me I have a problem with it. My missus wakes up next day saying she's kicking me out onto the couch the night before matchdays because in my sleep, I am throwing tackles in and kicking her thinking she's the centre half I am facing.... I am throwing my arms up in the air celebrating goals... I am swearing in my sleep if a foul goes against me.... at this rate my missus will be the only woman in the world who goes to bed with a head guard on and a gum shield in whilst sporting shin pads!!!!!!! On the morning when I awake.... I'm very organised. All my stuff is ready to go and kit bag is all packed. I will get up an eat breakfast and do as little as I can all in order to save every last ounce of energy for when we go into battle when that first whistle goes. En route into the ground, whether am in a car or on a train am already playing the game in my head. Visualising how chances are going to arrive... How I'm going to finish the chances... Seeing myself run off like a mad man celebrating. That's basically it preparation wise.

2017 started badly with the heavy defeat at Prestatyn Town and you getting sent off, what has the past few weeks been like?
2017 couldn't have started any worse for me personally. I miss a pen.... I get sent off and effectively I've killed the lads and we get punished big time. I hold my hands up for the Caernarfon sending off, I reacted petulantly after losing my head but still to this day I should never have been sent off against Prestatyn. They conned the referee in my opinion..... Less said on that the better. But it had become clear to me weeks previously that teams are setting out to provoke me or to leave bad tackles on me. Now I am not for one complaining... I take it more as a compliment as if that's their way of stopping me, it tells me they can't do it the normal way which again only gives me satisfaction. I only ask for protection from refs just like the Prestatyn game when I go flying in to a tackle and it's a straight red for me but when lads are giving it out to me some aren't even getting a yellow card. It's unbelievable. All I ask is for fairness. I don't want anything in my favour just fairness right across the board. That way we all know where we stand but the consistency of refereeing these days is questionable but it happens at the top level. I know it's a hard job for them and I do appreciate that without the officials, there is no football. I personally wouldn't want to do it myself an admire them for the courage in wanting to be a ref or linesman and we all expect them to get the big calls right but it's not always the case and that's why I find myself currently serving a 4 game ban. It's been really tough but there's light at the end of the tunnel and once I return to action, I am going to make up for lost time with goals and more goals.

What’s your hopes and targets for the rest of the season?
My hopes and targets for the season...... My hopes are for a strong finish now till the end and see how high we can finish and to keep myself fit an away from the referee's notebook. My targets... Get to 20 goals. As quick as possible. If I can do that before the end of the season I will make another target. Without the 1 game ban and the 4 game ban I've had this season, I would probably be on around 20 goals now. With a full season in this league and with a proper pre-season behind me I would score 40 plus goals without a shadow of a doubt. Possibly more depending on what mood am in. I score goals like no other and I am obsessed about two things in life... My baby boy Georgie & scoring goals. The thought of both never leave my mind for a second. That's a promise.

The supporters have taken to you and you are becoming a Halkyn Road favourite, have you a message for them?
The supporters have been first class to me since I've arrived.... All sides love a goalscorer. I bring that to the table 100%. I want the supporters to know the feeling is mutual An that I love every single one of you that passes through them Halkyn Road turnstiles on a matchday, and the ones who follow us far & wide. Whilst my heart beats I will run through brick walls for this club every single time I wear that badge upon my chest. It’s an honour to be part of such a great club full of lovely honest genuine people. I love it that much I start getting a cob on when it's home time. If I win the lottery one day I won't ever get that feeling as I will be plonking a house as close as I can to the ground. Ha ha. I think after a while I will have done your heads in and you will need a break from me I am 100% in everything I do. Nothing more nothing less. I am hard work sometimes but am worth it

Finally, the question all the fans want to hear……….are you still going to take the penalties?
Ha ha!!! great question.... if the decision was mine then yes I would be taking the penalties once I return. Unfortunately I don't make the decisions at the club. But what I do make is life hard for the gaffer and if I'm not on them, he will see a written transfer request on his desk that day too ha ha - just joking. He makes the decisions and I always respect what the gaffer says.... saying that, I've missed 2 out of 5 which in fairness if we're talking percentages it's 60% strike ratio. That's over half.... Surely cut me a bit of slack. Ha ha. I know the 2 efforts saved recently haven't been the best spot kick but it's a case of this.... A chance to score from 12 yards.... it's a score or miss situation.... Me if I am the manager, I want my goal scorers taking the penalties no matter what (that's not me being biased either)... And I know my name stands at the front of that list of goal scorers. Defenders defend the ball... that's their bread and butter. Midfielders run there plums off to defend and create chances for the strikers... That's their bread & butter.... strikers score goals!!!!!! That's a goal scoring opportunity and I want my best goal scorer taking it. That's me speaking if I was a manager unfortunately that's the gaffers choice but if selected to take them on return I will be 100% confident to put it in the net. At the end of dark night lies a sunny day.... Tomorrow is a new day. I will be back without doubt whether it's from the spot or not. You can't keep a good man down

Yours truly Shaun Tuck #Wellmen
