Holywell Town Football Club is delighted to announce that it has secured funding to deliver a Football in the Community Programme in 2015.

The funding, which has been awarded by Sported who are the UK’s leading sport for development charity, will aim to get young people off the streets and into sport to decrease levels of anti-social behaviour in the area.

Steve Thomas, who is an Ambassador for Sported, will be in charge of delivering the programme as the club’s new Football in the Community Officer. He said ‘’The key purpose of the programme is to develop stronger links between the football club, local community and the town’s young people. Working with key partners such as the local police force and youth justice service, this programme will offer young people from Holywell the opportunity to participate in sport as well as to access unique training and education opportunities to qualify them both in football coaching and in operational roles to help the club grow off the field in a commercial capacity’’. Sean Elliott, Chairman of Holywell Town FC, said ‘’I’m delighted, this is a sign of real progress for the Football Club, we’ve all seen the success that the team have enjoyed on the local and national stages in the last couple of years and it’s really important that this translates into a real long term benefit for the club and the town of Holywell’’

The Football in the Community programme will officially kick off in the New Year with free, fun and inclusive football coaching sessions being delivered in the Holway, Strand and Greenfield areas. The club will also be delivering activities during half term holidays and at all Holywell Town FC home games. If you would like to get involved in the programme, please email info@holywelltownfc.co.uk.
