Holywell Town face local neighbours in the 2nd round of the Welsh Cup

The Wellmen make the short journey to Mold Alex for the Welsh Cup 2nd round match looking to progress in the competition.

After last season's epic cup run, Town will be hoping to progress yet again in the competition which brought the club so much recognition last season, but everyone knows that it won't be easy against our Cymru Alliance opposition.

In last season's competition, Town defeated Cymru Alliance sides Penhyncoch and Penycae in the earlier rounds at Halkyn Road, and also beat their Cymru Alliance side Porthmadog at Halkyn Road en route to last years semi final, but facing Mold Alex at their Alyn Park ground will be a lot tougher and being away from home will add a bit more pressure on the lads to get a result.

Town will go into the game fresh on the back of a 5-0 victory over Penrhyncoch who are having a good first season in the Welsh Alliance. Holywell Town Manager John Haseldin will name his side just before kick off and players John Leonard and Lee Emberton will be hoping to shrug off injury's which kept them out of last week's game at Halkyn Road.

Sam Jones will be looking to add to the hat trick he scored in the last round against Hay St Marys, in a performance which won him the Player of the Round award by the FAW. Phil Lloyd will also be looking to be amongst the goals, fresh from his brace of goals last weekend.

Mold Alex will also be full of confidence after last weeks 3-1 win over Porthmadog at their Y Traeth Ground ,so this shows the task ahead of the Wellmen on Saturday afternoon.

Town are hoping for a good turn out of supporters to make the short journey up to Mold and an online campaign this week urge Town supporters to 'Wear Red' to the game.

Kick off on Saturday is 2.00pm, but Suppporters are invited for pre match banter at the Drovers Arms from 11.30am ahead of the big match.

See you there and hopefully, there will be a lot of Town supporters cheering the lads on!
