The Wellmen picked up their first 3 points of the season with a hard fought 3-1 win at Llandudno Junction on Tuesday evening.
Tony Roebuck hit the first with a smart volley on the ¼ hour mark after Wayne Edwards had thumped a long range free kick against the cross bar.
The home side enjoyed the lion’s share of chances either side of the half time break, missing opportunities such as a free header from a corner, and a thirty yard pile driver nearly snapping Danny Stanton’s crossbar, before Town had their best spell of the match in which they scored a further 2 goals to make the game safe.
The first was a smart finish from Marc Gunther making his full debut, before Paul Williams pushed the ball around the advancing Junction keeper for Holywell’s third, the ball trickling over the line after hitting the inside of the far post.
The home team fought back again, with a far post header pulling a goal back, but Holywell held on to claim their first three points of the season, making up for the disappointment of Saturdays opener.
