The Wellmen denied all three points after conceding injury time goal

The Wellmen travelled to Mid Wales to face Penrhyncoch, and at the start of play, a point and one position separated the sides as both teams aimed to climb out of the relegation places. Both sides knew that victory would go a long way in guaranteeing survival and Tier 2 football next season.
The hosts started well and Mike Platt was forced into an early save to deny Jonathon Evans giving the home side an early lead. Shortly afterwards, Town’s first chance fell to Sam Jones, who’s run into the box and shot seen Leigh Jenkins save the ball well with his feet. Platt again was on hand to prevent the roosters taking the lead, saving well from Josh Shaw’s effort, then shortly afterwards, tipped over a Cledan Davies free kick for a corner.
Town had the next chance, keeper Jenkins getting a hand to Sam Jones’ header after a great cross by Damien Ketley, then a few minutes later, Holywell took the lead. Zebb Edwards got on the end of a great cross by Ketley to steer the ball home. Town very nearly added a second a few minutes later, Jason Renshaw seeing his half volley blocked on the line by Penrhyncoch’s Tom Evans. The home side were creating chances and just after the half hour mark, they equalised. A great cross into the box by Cledan Davies saw Jonathon Foligno finish to level the scores.
Town didn’t let their heads drop after the goal, and a few minutes later, Town had regained the lead. Ketley latching on to a long ball into the box to volley the ball home past Jenkins. The goal lifted the Wellmen and they went in search of a third before the break, with Ketley looking dangerous upfront, but the home side defended well and the half time score saw the Wellmen ahead 2-1.
The second half was 9 minutes old as the Roosters levelled the scores again. Jack Rimmer with a great cross into the box and a sliding Cledan Davies managed to get a touch to the ball to force the ball home. Mark Winslade was denied a shooting chance when Jonathon Foligno was able to tackle the Wellmen striker just outside the box. Then, Mike Platt again came to the Wellmen’s rescue, brilliantly saving Cledan Davies’ point blank shot, before Platt got a fingertip to Evans’ effort from Steff Davies’ free kick.
Town took the lead again in the 83rd minute. Mix up at the back saw Matty Hughes on hand to pick up the loose ball before firing it home, much to the delight of the Wellmen supporters who had made the long journey down to Mid Wales. The home side threw everything at the Wellmen after the goal to try to get something from the game, and as the game entered injury time, with the Roosters still pressing, the equaliser came on 93rd minute. The home side won a corner, and Cledan Davies’ corner found Steff Davies who smashes the ball home to snatch victory away from the Wellmen.
The game ended 3-3 and both sides had played well, but the point each meant that the positions hadn’t changed and the Wellmen are still a point behind with 2 games to play at Guilsfield then at home to relegated Holyhead Hotspur. Keep the faith – we can still do this!
Manager John Hasledin added after the game, “It’s disappointing conceding a last minute goal but 7 points from the last 9 isn't a bad return for a team written off a couple of weeks back. It's still in our hands with 2 to go!! Thanks to the coach full of supporters that made the long journey today.
Town next travel to Powys to face Guilsfield next Saturday, then rounding off the season with a home game against Holyhead Hotspur a week Saturday.
