Dissapointing night for the Wellmen who lose 3-1 at Y Morfa Stadium.

The game started with both teams looking for the early advantage and Town's first real chance fell after quarter of an hour, Steve Lewis beat the offside trap but his shot was saved by Antoni Sarnowski. A few minutes later, Ryan Davies seemed to take a knock from a heavy challenge and Conwy played the ball forward and striker Corrig McGonigle fired the ball home to the bottom corner to give the home side the lead.

Conwy grabbed another a few minutes later to extend their lead, another ball over the top and it fell to Gethin Maxwell and his shot beat Platt. Town didnt let their heads fall and went looking to claw back a goal on the home side. Damon Ketley was causing problems for the home defence and from one of his runs, he was brought down just outside the area. Josh Maldon stood over to take it and his shot flew into the top corner with Sarnowski beaten. (Pictured)
The goal lifted the Wellmen but Holywell had to reshuffle as Ryan Davies couldn't continue and he was replaced by Tony Roebuck.
Town came close to grabbing a deserved equaliser, a good ball through for Lewis to chase and just as he was about to get a touch to lift the ball over the onrushing keeper, Sarnowski managed to get a hand to it and force the ball out for a corner. Ketley was again brought down on the edge of the area, but this time, Maldon's effort flew over the bar and the score remained 2-1 at the interval.

The second half got under way with the Wellmen looking for an early goal and that chance nearly came but Steve Lewis' effort went over the bar. Conwy also put pressure on the Wellmen back four, and Gerwyn Jones' cross was only a few inches to high for the Conwy Strikers to attack the ball and it went out for a corner, and a few minutes later, Conwy won a free kick in a dangerous position but McGonigle effort felw over Mike Platt's cross bar.

Town then had a let off as McGonigile's snapshot came off the post and was gathered by Platt. The Wellmen then went up the other end and nearly scored, good work by Aaron Pomeyie down the right and his cross finds Joe Carey but his shot is deflected out for a corner. From the resulting corner, Town nearly found the net but Maldon's header unfortunately came back out off the crossbar.

Rob Jones then had an effort go over the bar and disaster struck for the Wellmen on 80 minutes as they lost Aaron Pomeyie who was sent off and the Wellmen were forced to play the final 10 minutes with 10 men. The Wellmen still battled on and Ketley went close with 5 minutes left on the clock but his looping shot went over the bar and out for a goalkick.
THe home side wrapped the game up in injury time with a penalty after a conwy player was tripped in the box, and McGonigle grabbed his second of the game to make it 3-1.

More bad news was to follow for the Wellmen as the referee sent off MIke Platt, along with Conwy's Cory WIlliams after words were exchanged during the goal celebration. Soon after, the referee blew his whistle and unfortuantely for Town, it was the home side who claimed the points.

The Wellmen return to action next Friday with the trip to Denbigh Town .
