Holywell Town v Ruthin Town. = Preview.
The Huws Gray Alliance League kicks off on Friday night when the Wellmen welcome Ruthin Town to Halkyn Road.
The Match also see's the new Management Team of Gareth Sudlow, Andy Lewis and Dave Sweet take to the dugout for their first competitive match in charge of the Wellmen.
All three will be hoping to kick off the new season with 3 points but we know it wont be easy as Ruthin Town, under the management of Chris Williams, has seen him turn the team's fortunes around and no doubt they will improve again this season. Last season, Ruthin Town defeated the Wellmen in the last game of the season to lift the NEWFA Challenge Cup after a 2-1 victory, so the Wellmen will be hoping to eliminate that result out of the system and hoping for a repeat of the league fixture at home last season where we got all three points after a 5-0 victory, in a match which saw the scores all level at 0-0 at the half time break. Town turned on the style in the second half with Sam Jones amongst the goals getting himself a hat trick.
Sudlow will name his side ahead of kick off, with a full squad to choose from, except for centre back Jonathon Jones who misses the game after a three match ban has carried forward into this season following a red card in the final game of last season. Town will be buoyed by the signing of Damian Ketley from Llandudno, and a repeat of his brace of goals in last Saturday's friendly agianst Llandudno Junction will soon see him become a firm favourite amongst the Wellmen supporters. Lee Davey and Sam Jones have all found the net during pre-season, as well as Connor Littler who returns to the club after a season away from the game.
Manager Gareth Sudlow added, "I'm really looking forward to tomorrow’s game, our first as a new management team.
Pre Season has been indifferent with so many players away on holiday and working but now it’s onto the the Season and I’m so excited to get started.
All the lads have been working really hard of late and can not wait to kick it off tomorrow night. We’re expecting a big crowd so hopefully we can send our fans home happy!"
Ruthin will be looking to last season's top scorer Llyr Morris to once again lead their attack, and looking for the experience of Garmon Hafal and Tom Williams to help the younger members of their team.
This weekend is also FAW's Fair Play day, where the sides will be promoting the Fair Play campaign by wearing the Fair play logo on their shirts. The match kicks off at 7.30pm and teh Wellmen are hoping for a good turn out of supporters for our first Friday Night match of the season.
Lets get behind the lads and the new Management team and cheer the Wellmen to 3 points to kick off this season's league campaign.
See you there.........
