The Wellmen return to League action on Saturday, on the back of the Boxing Day victory over local neighbours Flint Town United, with a trip to inform Rhyl to round off our matches during the Festive Period.

The Boxing Day victory over Flint Town United will put the Wellmen in a confident mood ahead of the Rhyl match, and victory at Belle Vue will move the Wellmen to 2nd place in the Huws Gray Alliance League. Goals from Matty Harvey, Mark Winslade and Sam Jones saw the Wellmen victorious on Tuesday and the Wellmen faithful will be hoping of more the same on Saturday.

The Wellmen came from behind to claim a point in the game at Halkyn Road earlier in the season. 2-0 down at the break, it looked like it wasn’t going to be Town’s day after Steve Lewis’ spot kick was saved, but goals by Matty Kendrick, and an 88th minute equaliser by Lewis saw the lads claim a point. Rhyl have gone from strength to strength under Mark Connolly and Saturdays game will be a tough one for the Wellmen.

The Wellmen will be without Dafydd Griffith for the match, who sustained ankle ligament damage late in the Flint Town United game. Back into contention come Gareth Sudlow, who has missed the past few matches through suspension, and Matty Kendrick who was unavailable for the Boxing Day clash. Steve Lewis, who played for Rhyl after he left Halkyn Road and before returned to the club in the summer and he will be hoping to get a goal against his former side.

Manager John Haseldin said ahead of the game, "We don't want there to be any hangover this weekend from the Flint game. The bragging right and everything else are great and its been good to celebrate a win that our performance deserved, but its only another 3 points at the end of the day."

"The games come thick and fast in this period and we have to put the Flint game behind us. What it does it gives the lads a massive boost in confidence and some belief they can keep this good run going. We know that going to Rhyl and picking up three points isn't going to be easy and we'll have to be disciplined and focused on getting a result. They look galvanised under Mark Connolly who's got them playing again since he became Player Manager. They are on a high themselves after putting four past Queens Park and they'll be looking to turn us over, so it's a really big test for us."

The club are hoping for a good following down to Rhyl to cheer on the lads and after the excellent turnout on Boxing Day, the support that day helped the lads get the result and no doubt, the same on Saturday will boost the chances of getting the three points. The match kicks off at 2.30pm so see you there..........
