Holywell Town's winning run comes to an end against Kinmel Bay as the game ends in a 4-4 draw.

Holywell Town travelled to Llandudno's 3G pitch to play Kinmel Bay and confidence was high of another 3 points on the back of Saturday's 7-1 win over Llanrwst United.

The game started with both teams trying to settle and the first goal came on 14 minutes when Andreas Alvarelo put Kinmel Bay in the lead. Town battled to get back to level terms and the goal came on 20 minutes through Jack D’arcy. A great corner in from Sam Jones saw D’arcy rise and beat his marker and his header flew past Kinmel Bay goalkeeper Ryan Woods.

The goal lifted the Wellmen and on the half hour mark, Sam Jones produced a great safe out of Woods as Jones’ powerful shot was only parried by Woods at the near post and the ball fell to Tony Roebuck but his shot went inches wide of the post. Disaster struck for the Wellmen shortly afterwards as Kinmel Bay restored their one goal lead. Keiron Ellis found himself thorough on goal and his shot was brilliantly saved by Mike Platt, but the rebound fell to Ellis and his follow up shot beat Platt to give Bay the lead again.

A few minutes later, another chance fell Holywell’s way as Sam Jones broke well down the right and beat his marker to cross the ball to Phil Lloyd who laid the ball off for the onrushing Roebuck, but his shot was deflected out for a corner. Lloyd then produced another good save out of Woods who was able to knock Lloyd’s turn and shot out for a corner, and from the resulting corner, the ball fell to Paul Williams who shot from outside the area but the keeper once again saved the ball well. With the minutes getting nearer to Half Time, Town knew it would be great to equalise before the break, and that goal came on 44 minutes through Phil Lloyd. Tony Roebuck put in a great ball towards Matty Harvey, who under a challenge, was only able to knock the ball towards the goal, but the touch was enough and Lloyd was on hand to head the ball home.

The second half started and Town knew they had to up their game to get something out of the game. Kinmel Bay made matters worser for the Wellmen as they regained the lead in the 49th minute as a good run by Andreas Alvarelo saw him get towards the Holywell Town penalty area before laying the ball off to Thomas Galvin who’s first time looping effort flew towards the top corner, and despite Platt getting a touch to it, the ball still went in the net to give the Bay the lead for the third time of the night. The goal lifted Kinmel Bay and Alvarelo had a shot saved well by Platt before Town levelled the score again for the third time of the evening. Paul Williams, who was having a great game, ran in from the left and his cross come shot into the penalty area hit the insode of the post and came back out to the feet of Phil Lloyd who tapped home the equaliser.

Town nearly took the lead a few minutes later, when a great cross infrom the right by Matty Roberts saw Phil Lloyd get to the ball but the ball was cleared from Lloyd ‘s effort. Andreas Alvarelo then had a shot hit the side netting of Platt’s goal before Lloyd went up the other end and hit his effort into the side netting. Town took the lead for the first time of the evening on 70 minutes. Sam Jones picked up the ball from the centre and ran into the penalty area, where he unselfishly passed the ball to Lloyd who fired in off the post his third of the afternoon, much to the relief of the Holywell Town supporters who had made the trip to Llandudno.

Holywell looked to add to their tally and to put the game to bed, and another great run by Sam Jones saw his low cross through the penalty area just slightly evaded the onrushing Phil Lloyd, and any contact would have surely resulted in a goal. Another great run by Williams saw him cut the ball back but Phil Lloyd’s shot was blocked by Bay’s captain Danny Abbott. The Wellmen unfortunately then conceded a goal with 10 minutes left through Keirion Hilditch who cut inside from the left and beat Dafydd Griffith before shooting across Platt’s goal and the ball found the back of the net on the left hand side. This was a blow to the Wellmen who had looked to have turned things around, and again Town went in search of the winner. Phil Lloyd had a looping header over Keeper Ryan Woods but before the ball could bounce and trickle into the net, Abbott raced back and managed to get a head to the ball from virtually under the crossbar to save Kinmel Bay.

The minutes ticked by and the last effort of the night came from Town’s Paul Williams, who had a shot saved well by Woods. The draw means the Town’s winning run has come to an end, but the unbeaten run continues and Town will be hoping tonight’s match was a one-off and normal services will be resume on Saturday at Glan Conwy (2pm Kick off).
