The Wellmen fall to defeat at Brymbo and are knocked out of the FAW Trophy Competition.

The game started well for Town and pressed at every opportunity and captain Tony Roebuck was the first to have an effort on goal but his shot was blocked by the Brymbo defender. Shaun Tuck and Sam Jones both went close then Jones was fouled on the edge of the box, and the Brymbo keeper saved Shaun Tuck's free kick.
The opening goal soon came and it went to the Wellmen, with Luke Edwards volley from outside the area beat the keeper to give Town a deserved lead. Soon after the goal, the Wellmen were reduced to 10 men as Jason Renshaw saw red for his second yellow card of the match. Despite this set back, it didn't affect Town and Jacob Wise had to watch as his header towards goal was tipped over by Declan Morgan in the Brymbo goal in what was Town's last chance of the first half.

The second half got underway and Shaun Tuck went close to doubling Town's lead, twisting and turning past two defenders but his shot fell inches wide of the far post. Shortly afterwards, Brymbo equalised through Jamie Cumming. Town then brought on Matty Hughes for the injured Danny Dobbins, then disaster struck for Town as Brymbo grabbed a second goal. An effort on goal by Jordan Deer saw Mike Platt try to tip the ball over the crossbar, but he seemed to palm the ball into the back of his own net to gift Brymbo the goal.

Town very nearly grabbed an instant equaliser as Dylan Allshorn's run into the box see's him beat his marker but his shot flies inches wide of Morgan's post. With Town pressing for the equaliser, and being a man short, this left gaps in the midfield, and Brymbo began to create chances themselves. Ben Kearney went close, bursting through then watching as his shot hit the post and went out for a goal kick, but minutes later, Kearney did find the back of the net to make it 3-1.

As the game entered the final few minutes, Town pulled one back through Allshorn (pictured), who beat his defender to fire past the keeper to make it 3-2. Any hopes of a last gasp equaliser wee soon dashed as Brymbo wrapped the game up as Jacques Stuart's penalty beat Platt after Platt had conceded the penalty, bringing down the Brymbo forward as he ran in on goal.

It was definitely a game of two halves with the Wellmen dominating the first half, but the second half was Brymbo's who now find themselves in the hat for the draw for the next round. It was a disappointing way for Town to end their participation in this season's FAW Trophy competition,
