The Wellmen went into the game looking to continue their excellent run of form and buoyed on by a large number of supporters who’d made the Good Friday trip down the coast, the match got underway.
First chance of the game fell to the visitors, Gareth Evans fed a lovely ball through for Jamie Breese to chase but he was unable to get his shot on target and the ball was cleared for a corner. Moments later, the Wellmen had taken the lead. A good corner in by Danny Andrews into the box saw a bit of a scramble and Gareth Evans was able to get the decisive touch and steer the ball into the back of the net. Evans nearly turned provider moments later, playing a dangerous ball into the box but it was a little too hard for the onrushing Breese.
The home side were creating chances, and midway through the half good play saw Harvey Bennett break down the right, he was brought down by Tom Bibby and from the free kick, the ball is played to Luca Bennett but as he was about to pull the trigger at the far post, a great tackle by Myles Hart see’s the defende clear the ball to safety. Breese went agonisingly close a few minutes later, forcing Joe Agnus into making a great save, then Agnus again pulled off another great save to deny Beau Cornish. As the game entered the final 10 minutes of the half, the home side had a great chance, a lovely ball to the far post with the attacker ready to steer the ball goalwards, but Bibby is on hand to clear the ball and the chance was gone.
The referee blew for half time with the Wellmen ahead by Gareth Evans’ early goal.
The second half got underway and both sides played good football and it was pretty evenly balanced until the Wellmen doubled their lead on the hour mark. Good play down the right saw Breese burst forward, his low cross across the box found Cornish who fired the ball home to double Town’s lead. Moments later Tyler French saved well to deny the home side pulling one back then Bibby saw his effort saved by Agnus then Llanduno break well but French is on hand to make another great save.
With the game in injury time, Substitute Julian Williams heads home from a great corner by Brady McGilloway, then literally with his next touch of the ball, Williams had made it 4, bursting into the box and beats the challenge of the defender and the keeper to slide the ball into the net.
The referee blew for full time and the Wellmen picked up another 3 points and remain on top of the JD Cymru League North and with the next game played in a couple of days time, the Wellmen will be looking for 6 points out of 6 over the easter programme.
