Things got worse for the Wellmen with half an hour on the clock. The Wellmen lost the ball in the opponents half and Denbigh broke on the counter and Nathan Brown doubled Denbigh’s lead. On the stroke of half time, a good move by the Wellmen involving Ryan Edwards, Mark Winslade and Jamie Breese saw the ball fall to Breese but he’s unable to get power on his shot and the keeper saves easily.
The Second Half got underway and the Wellmen knew they had to raise their game to get anything out of the game and Manager John Hasledin made a double substitution, bringing on Danny Andrews and Ilan Ap Gareth who had resigned for the Wellmen this week.
The first chance of the half fell to the home side, with Nathan Brown getting a shot in on goal which Woods saved, the 10 minutes into the half, Town pulled one back through Jake Cooke. A couple of minutes later, the Wellmen were level. Jamie Breese on the chase, he cut inside then shoots and the keeper makes a good block, and the loose ball falls to Ilan ap Gareth who slotted the ball home to mark his return to the club with a goal. It was all Holywell by now and Breese should have added a third with 67 minutes on the clock. He picked up the ball inside the box and spun goalwards to shoot but his shot went wide of Jones’ left hand post. Moments later, in a rare attack up the other end, Woods saved well from Owen Davies’ effort.
With 70 minutes on the clock, Town were still pressing looking for a goal to take the lead, and Danny Andrews did well to find Jamie Breese, he bursts forward and in on goal but he dragged his shot wide. Town didn’t have to wait too long to grab their third goal of the game. A good run by Jake Cooke into the box, Jones saved it well and the loose ball falls to Ilan Ap Gareth who makes no mistake and grabbed his second of the game.
Breese then went close but his attempted chip over the keeper was a little to high and went over the crossbar. The Wellmen soon made it four, an in-swinging corner by Ilan ap Gareth caused problems and Mackenzie Stark got a touch and the ball ended up in the back of the net. Ilan ap Gareth had a shot in injury time which the keeper saved well and as the referee blew for full time, the Wellmen more than deserved the victory and returned home with all three points .
