Danny will lead the team into the campaign as defending champions and the club captain.

Hi Danny,

Q. Are you pleased with how the preseason has gone?

A. Yeah, I think preseason was good, we had two really good performances then we were probably brought back down to earth against a good Avro side, think most of the goals we did concede through preseason was our own mistakes, but that’s what preseason is about, getting rid of that rustiness and mistakes early doors and getting your sharpness and fitness ready for the new season.

Q. A good cup win over a tough Caersws puts us in the next round at home against JD North newcomers ’Llay Welfare FC’ new players with Phil Hudson at the reigns. They beat Denbigh 3-1 in their cup outing which shouts that they won’t be a push over.

A. Yeah, was good hard-fought win, I think we are known now as a team that goes to the end, and that was certainly the case against Caersws. Llay Welfare FC had a great win in the last round too, whenever we played this team in the last few years, they’ve always been close competitive games, so we expect nothing less in the next round.

Q. Captain again for the 2024/25 campaign. Have the word champions now dissolved, or will this accolade be used as a catalyst throughout the season?

A. Obviously, it’s nice to have the title “champions” and we are pleased with the achievements of last season, but you can’t sit and rest on that, it’s gone now, it’s a new season with different teams coming down into the league and teams coming up, so it’s going to be even harder this season because we know every team wants to beat the champions. But we are ready and certainly our aim is to go and win the league again and have a good run in all the cups this season

Q. There have been a couple of new signings and player coming up as U19 champions. How have the new lads settled?

A. I think the signings the gaffer has made have been the right ones and the young lads have come in from the youth have been brilliant, it also helps that they are all good lads too and have that same hunger and desire to win and match the same ambitions the club has. I think Jack was outstanding last week against a tough experienced winger, I thought he was excellent and that can only give confidence for him and the young lads coming through.
