The Wellmen return to league action this Saturday and welcome local neighbours Mold Alex to Halkyn Road.

It is a derby and we will respect them, but nothing changes for us
- John Haseldin - Manager

The match is been dubbed as one of the biggest matches of the season so far, with both Holywell Town and Mold Alex both bringing unbeaten records into the game. The Alex currently sit in 3rd place with 16 points, having won 5 and drawn 1 of the 6 games they have played. The Wellmen are in 6th position, with 11 points from 5 matches having won 3 and drawn 2 of the 5 matches played.
The Wellmen go into the game having seen last week’s League Cup match against Chirk AAA Postponed and their last match was the Welsh Cup victory over New Brighton Villa a fortnight ago. Mold however go into the game on the back of last week’s 7 -0 League Cup victory over Castell Alun Colts and they had Henry Carver and Connor Kendrick weighing in with two goals apiece and sealing their success were Lewis George, Danny Wynne and Kevin Day.
Mold have injury doubts over Lee Jones, Steve Watkins, Rhys Nash, Kevin Day and ex red Lee Emberton. Adam Renshaw and Dave Bryan could return to the starting line up. The Wellmen will have to watch Mold Striker Daniel Warren who has found the net 5 times already this season in their league matches.
The Wellmen squad include loan signing Dylan Allshorn from Flint Town United, after he made the short journey up to Holywell less than a fortnight ago. Manager John Haseldin will name his squad closer to kick off time, but if selected, Town will be hoping top scorers Shaun Tuck and Mark Connolly have their shooting boots on and get the goals to seal victory for the Town.
Manager John Haseldin said prior to the game, “I personally would say that Mold Alex are favourites for the league. They have some good individual players and the majority of their squad have been together for a few years now and teams like that are generally hard to beat.
It is a derby and we will respect them, but nothing changes for us, we will ask the players to be brave, give it their absolute all and leave everything out on the pitch. We are enjoying our football and winning games at the moment and we are fully focused on keeping that going while also looking to improve each week.
The match kicks off at 2.30pm with the clubhouse open from 1.00 for your pre match pint. It promises to be a great game so let’s get behind the lads and cheer the Wellmen on to victory.
