The Wellmen finally get their Welsh National League campaign underway this evening and welcome Brymbo FC to Halkyn Road.

After the club was suspended from playing League football after the FAW issued Rule 35 on the club pending the verdict of the Bangor City Arbitration hearing, we have had two matches cancelled (Mold Alex and Queens Park), and now aim to start our season off with a victory over Brymbo.

Tonight’s opposition are regarded as one of the league favourites, having finished inside the top 3 last season. Currently this season, the visitors are second in the table, having played 3 matches and won two of them, beating Castell AC 7-1 and Brickfield Rangers 2-1. Their defeat coming last weekend as they lost 6-4 to Cefn Albion.

After our recent 13-0 victory over Bradley Park in the NEWFA Challenge Cup, the lads have been eager to get going and tonight’s game couldn’t come round soon enough! Manager John Haseldin will name his side closer to kick off and will be looking to his players to start their campaign with three points. He told the press over the weekend, “We’ve kept our dignity in a turbulent time over the clubs suspension and it’s now our responsibility to put smiles back on the supporters faces. There are people who live and breathe Holywell Town Football Club and we want to give them something to celebrate after an upsetting and unstable time.”

The match promises to be a great game and the club are urging all supporters to turn up to cheer the lads on and to help them get off to a winning start. The match kicks off at 7.30pm so see you there……
