In a thrilling semi-final under the lights, Holywell Town Development came from behind to defeat TNS Reserves 2–1 and secure their place in the FAW League Reserve North Cup final.
TNS started strongly and opened the scoring on 25 minutes through Wust, who finished well after a good spell of pressure. Holywell responded with determination, creating several chances, and were rewarded just before the break. On 41 minutes, a lofted ball into the box caused a coming together between a Holywell attacker and the TNS goalkeeper. The referee saw no foul, and Oli Ostapiuk reacted quickest to poke the ball into the net and level the match.
The second half was a high-energy affair. TNS had a golden opportunity to retake the lead with a header that went just over, but the momentum soon shifted. Backed by a noisy and passionate home crowd, Holywell pushed forward relentlessly. Their winner came in the 88th minute, when Isaac Adams Goundrey tucked the ball home from a corner, sending the fans into a frenzy.
Tensions flared late on as TNS’s Stevens-Sewell was shown a red card. Holywell had chances to seal the game with a third, but the full-time whistle confirmed a memorable 2–1 victory.
Both teams played their part in a fantastic game of football, with great support from the stands adding to the occasion. Holywell Town Development now look ahead to a showdown with Llandudno in the final.
