Town welcomed Avro FC to Halkyn Road for a double header and both sides fell to defeat against the Manchester based side.

"It was a good entertaining game against a strong side today. Buzzing for Jake Cooke, what a way to open your account for the team with a brilliant individual goal!"
- John Haseldin - Manager

First up was the Reserves against Avro FC Reserves, and unfortunately for Town, the visitors ran out 4-0 winners. It was the Reserves first game since winning the Reserves and Colts league last season, and despite the defeat, there was positives to take into their next game and they will be hoping to put that right on Tuesday evening when they make the short journey to Flint Mountain FC.

Next up was the first team who entertained Avro FC's first team, and with the Wellmen going into the game on the back of a three match winning run, Town were full of confidence and hoping to chalk up another pre-season victory.

The visitors took the lead midway through the half and held on to that lead at the half time break. Town needed an early second half goal to level the scores, and that goal came around 5 minutes into the half through Jake Cooke (pictured celebrating with team mates). He went on a good run and slotted the ball past the keeper to score the equaliser.

With both sides looking for a winner, it was the visitors who scored next with an hour on the clock and the visitors held onto that lead to seal victory. Manager John Haseldin added, "It was a good entertaining game against a strong side today. Buzzing for Jake Cooke, what a way to open your account for the team with a brilliant individual goal!"
