The Wellmen fought out a good 1-0 victory on Saturday against Cammel Laird.

"It was a good victory and I'm pleased with the performance by the lads.
- John Haseldin - Manager

A good crowd at Halkyn Road were hoping for a repeat of last week's victory over Caernarfon Town, and both sides had chances to break the deadlok during the first half but none of these were taken and the score remained goalless at the break.

Town came out for the second half and the deadlock was broken a couple of minutes in as Wayne Edwards slotted the ball home after a good cross in from the right.

Sub Bailey Roberts, the youngster making his first team debut, nearly added to the scoreline, forcing the keeper to save well and Dan Dobbins rattled the crossbar with a powerful header late in the game.

As the referee blew for full time, Town had picked up their second victory of their pre-season campaign, and manager John Haseldin was happy with the victory, adding "It was a good victory and I'm pleased with the performance by the lads. Cammel Lairds were a good tough side to play against, just what you want for a pre-season fixture."

Youngster Jake Cooke, celebrated this week's call up to the first team squad after a couple of great season's for the Reserves and U19's, picked up the Man of the Match award.
Town will be hoping to make it three wins on the bounce on Tuesday as we welcome local neighbours Greenfield to Halkyn Road, kick off 7.30pm.
