Holywell Town picked up their first win in the WNL Premier Division this afternoon after a 5-2 win over Cefn Albion.

As the home side won the FAW Trophy last season, the Wellmen gave Cefn Albion a guard of honour as they entered the field in honour of their achievement.

The Wellmen opened the better side and Shaun Tuck forced a good save out of Cefn Albion Keeper Joshua Roberts who saved Tuck's shot with his legs, before Tuck again looked to put the Wellmen ahead but Roberts again saved his shot. The home side had chances too, the better chance falling to Jordan Williams but his shot was inches wide of Mike Platt's post. After Keiran Price was brought down on the edge of the box, Mark Connolly saw his free kick saved by Roberts.

The Wellmen took the lead on 16 minutes, a good ball to Shaun Tuck on the edge of the box saw him control and unleash a shot which beat Roberts to give the Wellmen a deserved equaliser. Phil Lloyd, in his first game since signing again for the Wellmen, saw his effort go over the bar before Town were let off as Cefn's James Jones looping shot came back out off the crossbar. The home side however equalised a few minutes later as Kien Morris fired he home side level to make the scores all square at the break.

The second half was barely a few minutes old when the home side took the lead, Zac Davies breaking forward to shoot past Mike Platt. Town looked for the equaliser and when Tuck was brought down in the penalty area, the referee didnt hesitate to point to the penalty spot, and up stepped James Graham to fire the Wellmen level.

With around 68 minutes on the clock, the Wellmen regained the lead. A great move saw Mark Connolly pass the ball out to Luke Edwards on the edge of the box, and his cross was pushed onto the post by the keeper and was partially cleared to Lee Buttersworth, who controlled and ran to the byline and crossed the ball passed the advancing keeper and it fell to Tuck to tap the ball home for his second goal of the game. Cefn very nearly equalised shortly afterwards as Andrew Watkins fierce drive smashed the cross bar and bounces down but didn't cross the line and was cleared to safety.

With the game entering the final few minutes, the Wellmen increased their lead and sealed the points, Paul Williams picking up the loose ball on the edge of the box, and his shot beat the keeper and nestled into the back of the net via the post. The Wellmen were not happy with 4 goals, and in the final minute, Mark Connolly grabbed Town's fifth, firing home much to the delight of the supporters behind the goal.

The referee blew for full time and the Wellmen fully deserved the victory and their first three points of the season. The Wellmen face Gresford Athletic at home on Tuesday in the NEWFA Challenge Cup before welcoming Plas Madoc to Halkyn Road on Saturday in the Welsh National League Premier Division.
