Holywell Town 1st team welcomed Llanrwst United to Halkyn Road and shared a 10 goal thriller.

It was a bad start for Town as Llanrwst United took the lead with around 10 minutes on the clock, Ex Wellmen striker Sam Jones broke and slotted the ball passed Danny Stanton in the Holywell goal. The Wellmen didn't have too long to wait to equalise and it came 5 minutes later as an effort across goal was met by Luke Edwards who fired the ball home.

With half an hour played, the Roosters increased their lead through Callum Jones but shortly afterwards, Shaun Tuck equalised for Town, a ball over the top saw him control the ball, bring it down on his left foot and struck it past the Llanrwst keeper.

With the game evenly balanced at 2-2 at the interval, the visitors retook the lead on 60 minutes through Callum Parry, then a few minutes later it was 4-1 as Sam Jones grabbed his second of the game. It got worse for town a couple of minutes later as Callum Parry got his second of the match and made the score 5-2.

The Wellmen's fightback begun in the 75th minute as John Haseldin rose well to head home Town 3rd's goal (pictured), then with just under 10 minutes to go, Town pulled another goal back through Matty Hughes who headed home a Wayne Edwards corner. The Wellmen had the grit between their teeth and were looking for the equaliser, with Jake Cooke and Wayne Edwards both going close, then on the stroke of full time, Town were awarded a penalty. Wayne Edwards stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way and to level the scores at 5-5.

Manager John Haseldin added, "It was an entertaining game to end our pre-season! Gutsy fightback and a lot of heart shown not to get beat today, and I'm sure that will be needed again over the course of the season. "

The Wellmen are next in action on Wednesday Evening in the NEWFA Challenge Cup against Bradley Park, kick off 7.30pm.
