Holywell Town 8-0 Llandudno Junction
The Wellmen welcomed Llandudno Junction to Halkyn Road, looking for maximum points to keep pressure on those above us in the league.
With the match being abandoned at the first time of asking after 20 minutes back in February, and the Wellmen 4 goals to the good at the time, Town did not want to slip up against bottom placed Junction and the Wellmen had a good start after 10 minutes when Shaun Tuck opened up the scoring, beating the offside trap and ran towards goal, he rounded the advancing keeper and slotted the ball home from a tight angle. Mark Winslade nearly doubled Town's lead a few minutes later but his shot went wide of the target, and again shortly afterwards, Winslade yet again went close but Junciton's keeper was able to gather the ball well.
With half an hour played, the Wellmen doubled their lead. A corner from the left by Steve Thomas was only partially gathered by Tom Hooson in the Junction goal and Jon Jones was first to react and tapped the ball home. Town's next move again nearly ended in a goal, captain Thomas next to have a shot after a good run into the box but his cross goal shot rolled inches wide of the post. Shaun Pearson, who was having a quiet game was forced to punch a ball clear after a good ball goalwards in a rare Junciton attack but on the stroke of half time, the Wellmen added a third through inform Mark Winslade, who slotted home at the far post after a good cross into the box.
There was no way back for Junction and Sam Jones was next on the scoresheet, firing home Town's 4th on 55 minutes, as he picked up the ball on the edge of the box and fired into the far corner with Hooson beaten. Shaun Tuck was replaced on the hour mark by Lee Davey for his home debut, and barely a few minutes had passed before Davey had capped his debut with a goal, heading home from a cross from the left by Thomas. Matty Harvey header a few minutes later made it 6 for the Wellmen. Junction then had a couple of half chances, the first falling to Sam Carrier, who burst clear after a ball over the top and he went to round keeper Pearson, but Harvey was able to tackle him before he got his shot in on goal, then Liam Jones had a shot go wide of the target. Davey then scored his second of the night, turning and firing home from the edge of the area.
Paul Williams rounded off the scoring, scoring from the edge of the area after a great move involving Winslade and Brady McGilloway to make it 8-0 and to give the Wellmen their second 8-0 victory of the season.
