Holywell Town 8-0 FC Queens Park
Holywell Town fired 8 past Queens Park in a convincing victory at a cold Halkyn Road.
The game started and the first chance fell to Mark Winslade, who was put through on goal and from the right, fired a fierce shot which hit the post and went out for a goal kick, shortly afterwards, Town should have taken the lead when a low ball into the box found Brady McGilloway, but his shot flew over the bar.
With 15 minutes on the clock, Sam Jones opened the scoring, bursting through before firing past Josh Griffiths before Mark Winslade doubled the lead a couple of minutes later with a great goal, picking up the loose ball on the edge of the box and firing into the top corner. Steve Lewis could have increased Town's lead on the half hour mark, picking up the ball inside the box before turning and shooting inches wide. The score remained 2-0 until a minute before the break, as Winslade got his 2nd of the match, firing a fierce shot from a tight angle past Griffiths to give the Wellmen a 3 goal advantage at the interval.
The first chance of the second half fell to Steve Lewis, who cut inside the defender but his shot flew over the bar, and Sam Jones shot inches wide after tackling the ball off the Queens Park defender and burst forward but couldn't find the net.
Queens Park striker Jordan Cartwright shot straight at Shaun Pearson and It wasn't until the hour mark that Town got their 4th goal of the afternoon when Jon Jones headed home at the far post. Barely a minute had passed when Sam Jones grabbed his second of the game before Steve Lewis got on the scoresheet to make it 6 without reply to the Wellmen. Park's Levi Roberts watched as his free kick was saved well by Pearson then Winslade and Sam Jones failed to hit the target in another good couple of chances for Town.
Lewis got on the scoresheet again on 75 minutes to make it 7-0, bursting through and chipping the ball over the advancing keeper before Park's Levi Roberts again had a shot saved by Pearson.
Winslade completed his hat trick with a few minutes remaining, picking up the ball on the right and turning to fire a low shot into the bottom corner to make the score 8-0 to the Wellmen. The result saw Town move up to 3rd in the table and meant Queens Park had to endure their second 8-0 defeat in a week. It was an important victory for the Wellmen as they keep the pressure on both Caernarfon Town and Airbus in the Huws Gray Alliance League.
