Town get into double figures in emphatic victory at Nefyn United.
Holywell Town made the trip to Nefyn looking to add a third victory in 7 days to keep the pressure on Caernarfon Town and Denbigh Town who were above them in the league.
It was a bitterly cold afternoon as the side took to the field and Steve Thomas opened the scoring for the Wellmen, shooting home a free kick which beats the keeper at his near post. A couple of minutes later, it was 2-0 as Ian Griffths headed home a Sam Jones corner. Griffiths got his second a couple of minutes later, as his shot from close range went in off the post. A few minutes before the break , Sam Jones got his name on the scoresheet to give Town a 4-0 lead at half time.
Town continued after the break where they left off and the half was barely a few minutes old when Paul Williams added Town’s 5th, slotting the ball into the net after the keeper could only parry the ball out from a Griffiths shot. A few minutes later it was 6, as Graeme Williams puts the ball in the net after a Paul Williams squared the ball across to him.
Griffiths completed his hat trick on 75 minutes, before Ashley Durham made it 8 with a far post header with ten minutes to go. Mark Orme scored his first goal in Holywell Town’s colours on 88 minutes and Tony Roebuck hits a 30 yard volley to complete the scoring to give Town an excellent 10-0 win.
Town will now be full of confidence going into Wednesday night’s Cookson Cup final against Caernarfon Town on the back of this result, and having scored 17 goals and conceded 1 goal in the past couple of games, our goal difference has improved as well and from looking at the table, it’s going to be an exciting end to the season.
