Holywell Town's unbeaten run came to an end at Glantraeth as the hosts ran out 2-1 winners.

It was very much a game of two halves at Glantraeth as Holywell Town played good football and should have been further in front than the 1-0 lead the Wellmen took in with them for the half time break.

The game started well for the Wellmen as both Phil Lloyd and Stuart Hayes went close to open the scoring but their cheeky chips fell the wrong side of the post. Paul Williams also had a shot blocked by keeper Stuart Williams before Stuart Hayes had an effort blocked on the line by a Glantraeth player.

Town took a deserved lead on 35 minutes through Tom McElmeel as he broke clear and rounded the keeper before slotting the ball home, much to the delight of the travelling supporters!

The second half was a completely different game as Glantraeth fought back and had a couple of chances before scoring a deserved equaliser with 20 minutes remaining Shaun Davies' header beat Mike Platt in Town's goal.

It went from bad to worse for the Wellmen with 7 minutes remaining as Glantraeth took the lead when Neil Hughes had as hot brilliantly saved by Platt, but the rebound fell to James Burgess who fired the ball home into an empty net.

Town tried to get an equaliser but it wasn't to be and the game ended 2-1 in favour of the hosts. Missed chances in the first half cost the Wellmen dear where on another day we would have been 4 or 5 up at the break. Town tried but failed to play like we know they can during the second half and Town need to bounce back next week when we travel to Caersws to play Abergavenny in the FAW Trophy Semi Final.
