Holywell Town travelled to Anglesey to face Holyhead Hotspur and come home with all three points courtesy of a 1-0 victory.

Nothing beats that winning feeling!".
- Phil Lloyd

With the strong wind and a heavy pitch making it difficult for both teams, the Wellmen should have taken an early lead when Steve Lewis saw his shot go over the bar after being put in on goal, and the home side should have broken the deadlock midway through the first half when Matty Harvey was adjudged to have fouled Kenleigh Owen and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Owen got up to take the spot kick but Wellmen keeper Shaun Pearson dived to his right and pulled off a great save to deny Owen giving the home side the lead.

Pearson was on fine form and saved the Wellmen again with a few minutes of the half remaining to see the scores level at the break.

The second half was less than 5 minutes old and the Wellmen took the lead through Club Captain Steve Thomas (pictured). The ball was played into the box from the left, and Thomas controlled the ball before lifting the ball over the oncoming Paul Pritchard and the ball settled into the bottom corner of the net.

Pearson then denied Owen again from equalising and Mel McGuiness saw a couple of shots blocked as the home side looked for the equaliser. The Wellmen's defence held firm and Town were unlucky not to increase their lead through Steve Lewis and goalscorer Thomas, but the Wellmen held on to claim the points.

Striker Steve Lewis said after the game, "Tough place to go that Holyhead, we controlled the majority of the game, probably should have scored more but 3 points none the less". Phil Lloyd added "Brilliant win that today, could have been more but will take a 1-0 win all day long. One of the toughest places in the league to go, get in boys! Nothing beats that winning feeling!".

Once again, the club would like to thank the supporters who made the long journey to Holyhead to cheer the lads on. It is much appreciated by the players and everyone connected with the club and you act like the 12th man.

The Wellmen next face Ruthin Town at Halkyn Road next Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
