The weather played a major part in the game, and Town facing the wind in the first half coped really well with the pressure put on by the home side, and the closest Holyhead came to scoring was in the final few minutes of the half, as Mel McGuiness turned and shot towards goal from the edge of the area and was going into the top corner but debutant Keeper Mike Platt pulled off a great save, as he managed to tip the ball against the cross bar before the ball was cleared and meant both sides went in level at the break.

The Wellmen, with the wind behind them for the second half looked to breaking teh deadlock and Paul Williams and Josh Maldon both went close but the Holyhead Keeper Carl Jones pulled off great saves to keep the home side in the game. Midway through the half, the Wellmen took a deserved lead through Steve Lewis, as a great ball in from the right found Lewis, and despite being put under pressure by Alex Jones, he was able to head the ball past Jones to give the Wellmen the lead.

Lewis came close to increasing Town's lead shortly afterwards as his shot from outside the effort rattled the Holyhead post. Town were looking comfortable and looked for the second to seal the win, and that goal came in injury time, as sub Shaun Tuck, who had literally been on the field less than a minute fired home with his first touch of the ball from Josh Maldon's great pass and the victory was ours.

The Wellmen supporters who had made the journey were in fine voice and proud of the team for their performance and more importantly, picking up the 3 points. The win sees the Wellmen climb up the table to 13th and hopefully the win will kickstart the Wellmen's season.

Manager John Haseldin added, "Massive result for us that, especially away from home in those conditions. A lot of heart, desire and quality by the boys to get the 3 points and everyone played their part - supporters included." Captain Paul Williams said, "By far the worse conditions I have ever played in but its nice to get back to winning ways."
