Holywell Town beat Conwy Borough this afternoon by 3 goals to 1 to continue their recent excellent run.

"We dug in when needed to and we deserved the win."
- John Haseldin - Manager

The match was delayed by 15 minutes due to the accident on the A55 and the Wellmen took the lead through Shaun Tuck, who was unmarked in the penalty area and tapped the ball home after Steve Thomas had made a great run to the byline before crossing low towards Tuck.

Conway Borough equalised midway through the first half through Alex Titchiner and the game was evenly balanced at the half time interval.

Town lost Shaun Tuck for the second half after he picked up an injury which forced him off. The second half was a lot tighter than the first, and the half came to life in the final ten minutes.

Town were awarded a penalty in the 84th minute after Matty Harvey was fouled in the box, and from the resulting spot kick, Jamie McDaid fired the Wellmen ahead with a great spot kick which gave the goal keeper no chance.

With a minute on the clock, McDaid added a third goal, picking up the ball on the right, before cutting inside and beating a couple of defenders before firing low into the far bottom corner.

On the final whistle, the large number of Holywell Town supporters who had made the journey to Conwy stood and clapped the players off the pitch, in reward for their battling and great performance. The win leaves the Wellmen in 6th place, with 36 points from 23 games

Manager John Haseldin added after the game, "I'm pleased with the win, especially away from home and it was important we kept our good run going. I thought we played well in patches and got stronger as game went on and we dug in when needed to and we deserved the win."

Next up for the Wellmen is the visit of bottom placed Buckley Town to Halkyn Road next Saturday and the Wellmen will be looking to continue their recent good run with another 3 points.
