Holywell Town made it four wins out of four with a hard fought 2-1 win over Guilsfield

Great shift by the lads today, worked hard for them points after a few weeks off"
- Manager John Hasledin

After a couple of weeks of postponements, it was game on today for the Wellmen as they welcomed Guilsfield to Halkyn Road.

The Wellmen had a great start as Jamie McDaid continued his goalscoring form to give Town the lead after 6 minutes. Mark Winslade picked up the ball in midfield, ran forward and laid the ball off to McDaid who controlled the ball before firing past Dave Littleford in the Guilsfield goal. The game was evenly balanced after the goal and the score remained 1-0 to the Wellmen at the half time interval.

The visitors equalised on the hour mark through Jake Cook, firing home from the penalty spot to make it 1-1. Town looked for another goal, and that goal came in the 65th minute as Jon Jones fired home the loose ball in a crowded penalty box from a Steve Thomas corner.

Town could have increased their lead shortly afterwards, with Mark Winslade and Graeme Williams going close. But as the referee blew the full time whistle, Town were glad of the 3 points after a hard game on a heavy pitch.

Manager John Haseldin added, "Great shift by the lads today, worked hard for them points after a few weeks off. Games can't come quick enough now!"

Jamie McDaid, who got the opening goal added, "Great 2-1 win for us today, great shift from everyone against a tough side, happy to score another goal."

The victory sees the Wellmen in 6th position in the Huws Gray Alliance League, with 39 points from 24 matches.
