The Huws Gray Alliance League match of the day saw Caernarfon Town edge a 3-2 thriller at Halkyn Road.

The Wellmen had a dream start when Shaun Tuck gave the home side the lead with barely 5 minutes on the clock, as he headed home a Steve Thomas cross. Thomas then nearly doubled the lead but the Caernarfon keeper produced a great save to deny the Holywell captain.

Chances fell to both teams during the first half but the score remained 1-0 to the Wellmen at the break.

A double substitution by the visitors at half time seemed to raise their game and they started the half putting the Wellmen under a lot of pressure, and they scored the equaliser with around 54 minutes on the clock through sub Kevin Lloyd. Things got worse for the Wellmen a few minutes later when Lloyd gave Caernarfon the lead,

Caernarfon Town then had sub Rob Jones sent off for an off the ball incident midway through the half, then Town were awarded a penalty. Unfortunately for the Wellmen, Lee Healey's penalty was saved well by Caernarfon Town goalkeeper.

Danny Brookwell then punished the Wellmen with a 3rd goal and with the clock ticking down, Town's task was made harder when Shaun Tuck was sent off for a second yellow card. The home side did get a last gasp goal with a couple of minutes left when Phil Lloyd helped the ball over the line after keeper Alex Ramsey could only punch the ball towards his own net from a Paul Williams corner.

The game ended 3-2 to the visitors and if you could describe a game as being a game of two halves, today's game was a great advertisement for that.
