Holywell Town lost 3-1 against Flint Town United in the big local derby.

"Great Support, sorry we didn't get the result we wanted, keep supporting the boys, we will get it right."
- John Haseldin - Manager

A crowd of over 800 packed Halkyn Road and it was the visitors who drew first blood as early as the 7th minute, as Richard Foulkes with a placed shot into the top corner over debutant Keighan Jones.

Midway through the half, Shaun Tuck went on a run and was adjudged to have been tripped by John Davies and the referee pointed to the spot. Tuck got up to take the spot kick and beat Ben Jones to draw the sides level.

Barely a couple of minutes later, Flint regained the lead, again through Foulkes to claim his second of the game. A cross in from the right saw Foulkes climb and send a looping header goalwards and despite Jones getting a touch to it, but the ball went into the net via the post.

The Wellmen won another penalty on 26 minutes, Chris Li bringing Graeme Williams down and the referee didn't hesitate to point to the spot. Again Tuck stood up to take the kick but this time, Ben Jones guessed correctly and gathered the ball to prevent any chance of Tuck scoring the rebound.

The second half saw chances fall to both teams and Holywell Town had Gareth Sudlow sent off for bringing down Flint's Andy Brown on the edge of the area, and as he was the last man, referee Dan Fogerty branded the red card. The afternoon got worse for the Wellmen in the 94th minute, as former player Luke Tyson broke clear and rounded Jones to slot the ball home.

Overall a miserable afternoon for the Wellmen who know they can do better and no doubt will want to get the result out of their system as soon as possible.
