The Wellmen fired 5 second half goals to beat Ruthin Town at Halkyn Road.

Ruthin are a good side and don't get beat like that by anyone these days.
- John Haseldin - Manager

After a goal less first half, the Wellmen were awarded a penalty a couple of minutes into the second half after Steve Thomas was felled in the box, and Sam Jones (pictured) fired home from the spot to put the Wellmen into the lead.

Matty Harvey doubled the Wellmen's lead on 63 minutes when he headed home a great ball in from the right, and only a minute later, Sam Jones increased Town's lead with a well taken goal.

As the game entered the final ten minutes, Town increased their lead as Sam Jones completed his hat trick, after a great ball over from Steve Thomas saw Jones break free before rounding the keeper to fire the ball home. Town completed their scoring with a couple of minutes on the clock when sub Marc Gunther headed the ball home to make it a convincing victory for the Wellmen.

Manager John Haseldin added after the game, "We were a bit below in our tempo first half but it was a great performance in the second half by us and I've got to give a huge amount of credit to our players for that. Ruthin are a good side and don't get beat like that by anyone these days."

Centre back Matty Kendrick was also full of praise for the performance and said, "Such a good performance from the boys today. Controlled it from the start and blew them away second half, class!".

The win keeps Holywell Town in second place, 4 points adrift of league leaders Caernarfon Town and a point ahead of Denbigh Town who are in 3rd place.

Great win today and Town will be looking to continue their great form at Caersws next Saturday.

The Reserves travelled to New Brighton Villa but fell to a 3-1 defeat. The Wellmen were 2-0 down at the break but pulled one back through Jay Wilkes, but the hosts scored in injury time to take the points.
