The Wellmen travelled to Heswall for their 2nd Pre-season game and were victorious by 5 goals to 1.

Pre Season games are all about fitness and getting used to one another so to get the win in the style we played is very positive and an added bonus.

Despite creating chances and having most of the play during the first half, the Wellmen found themselves behind by a goal to nil at the break with the hosts grabbing the opening goal in the later stages of the half.

THe second half was only a few minutes old when Jonathon Jones grabbed Town's equaliser, and the goal lifted the Wellmen and a few minutes later, Matty Harvey got himself on the scoresheet to put the Wellmen in the lead. Midway through the half, Connor Littler grabbed Town's third before Matty Harvey got his second of the evening to make it 4-1.

Mike Guest rounded off the scoring to make it 5-1 to the Wellmen. It was a great win for the Wellmen and another good run out for the lads ahead of Saturday's game at Haughmond in Shrewsbury. (kick off 12.00noon)

After watching his side win for the first time since he took over during the close season, Manager Gareth Sudlow was full of praise for the lads. "Tonight was a very pleasing performance from all the boys. From the 1st minute we applied the tempo I was after and even at the break when we were 1-0 down I was still happy because we were doing the right things. We stepped it up in the 2nd half and come away with a convincing win.

Coach Dave Sweet was also made up with the result, he added, "We were really dominant for large spells of the first half and didn’t really look like Conceeding. We tried to play with our full backs quite high when we were in possession and this worked well and we looked dangerous in wide areas.

Connor Littler, Sion Hogan and Lee Davey interchanged really well and looked dangerous and, to be honest, it was only a matter of time before our dominance paid off.
The lads were really measured in the second half and our decision making was excellent, it was one way traffic.

A really pleasing performance so early on in pre season and we take it in to training on Thursday ready for Haughmond away on Saturday.

Roll on Saturday...…...
