The much anticipated Boxing Day cracker went Holywell Town's way with a great 3-0 victory over Flint Town United.

The first half was pretty evenly matched with both sides having a couple of chances each, but neither side managed the break through and the sides went in at the break goaless.

The second half was a different story, as Holywell Town took the game to the hosts and after a few chances, the break through finally came just on the hour mark when Matty Harvey's looping header at the far post found the back of the net to give the Wellmen a deserved lead.

Town looked for the decisive second goal with chance after chance going begging, and any pressure by the home side was dealt well by goalkeeper Shaun Pearson and the back line to thwart any chance on Town's goal.

The second goal came in the 84th minute, when a through ball by Phil Lloyd found Steve Lewis, who controlled well before threading the ball through to Mark Winslade who fired home to double Town's advantage.

The killer third goal came with a couple of minutes left, when Steve Lewis evaded a challenge by the Flint defender, and managed to control the loose ball well before laying off to Sam Jones, who's shot found the bottom corner, infront of the ecstatic Holywell Town supporters. (see picture)

The side came off to a round of applause by the good number of Holywell Town supporters who made the short trip to Flint, and the result was a great late Christmas present for all supporters and those connected with the club.

Holywell Town next game is on Saturday, with a trip to inform Rhyl, and with both sides full of confidence, it promises to be a another great game.......see you there!
